Thursday at Noon Concert: Songs of Lili Boulanger

Lili Boulanger; ses influences and ses contemporains. Soprano Maghan McPhee and pianist Carl Philippe Gionet warm-up the crowd for the upcoming Creative Women at the End of the First World War Conference (Oct 5-7, 2018). Songs of the influential Lili Boulanger, who is being celebrated for the centennial of her death and her creation “Clarieres dans le ciel” will be the focus. Her teacher Gabriel Faure and their contemporaries, Ravel, Duparc and the iconic Claude Debussy, also celebrating the centennial of his death, will be featured.

Thursday at Noon Concert: Madawaska String Quartet

Masterpieces by Great Masters with the Madawaska String Quartet. Two early works by composers who would soon become great masters of the String Quartet: Beethoven’s String Quartet Opus 18 no. 4, and Mendelssohn, String Quartet Opus 13 (“Frage”), written when the composer was only 18 years old. Everyone welcome and admission is FREE – donations gratefully appreciated.
