Position: GSA Activities and Communication Coordinator (ACC)

Compensation: Monthly Honourarium of $781.72/month

Term: September 1, 2021 – August 31, 2022

About the Graduate Students’ Association (GSA)

The GSA is the sole representative body for graduate students at the University of Guelph, acting as a liaison between graduate students and University Administration. The GSA Executive, Staff and Board of Directors work to provide services that advance the academic, professional and social wellbeing of its members. The GSA ACC will report to the GSA President.

Main Responsibilities

  • Plan, promote and run all GSA events including but not limited to the GSA Virtual Conference, Orientation events, ongoing events and events for major occasions
  • Coordinate with the appropriate individuals to book GSA events in GSA space
  • Ensure that GSA events are advancing the academic, professional or social wellbeing of graduate students
  • Create the monthly GSA Newsletter to communicate any GSA or graduate student-related business, and GSA Board Meeting schedule to graduate students
  • Maintain and promote all GSA Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages
  • Sit on the Graduate Student Lounge Sustainability Committee and the UC Digital Signage Review Committee
  • Chair the Volunteer Committee
  • Provide updates to the GSA Executive, and Board of Directors
  • Plan, coordinate and run the annual GSA Conference
  • Additional duties as assigned/required

Qualifications

  • Must be a graduate student at the University of Guelph (and have paid the GSA fee) for the duration of their term
  • Self-starter with friendly, and outgoing demeanour
  • Experience in event planning and advertising events via social media for an organization
  • Excellent time-management, organization, and written and oral communication skills
  • Experience with planning virtual events is considered an asset
