Brittany MacPherson Wins Multiple CNS Awards
Congratulations to Brittany MacPherson of the Department of Human Health and Nutritional Sciences at the University of Guelph for earning three awards at the Canadian Nutrition Society's 2018 Annual Conference in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Brittany's record breaking multiple CNS awards include;
- Gordon F. Mutch Young Investigator Award in Diabetes Research – Abstract award
- Christine Gagnon Memorial Travel Award Supported by Nestlé Nutrition
- 1st Place - Nutrition Graduate Student and Trainee Award, supported by Nestlé Nutrition
"The Gordon F. Mutch Young Investigator Award in Diabetes Research of the Canadian Nutrition Society (CNS) is given for research investigating the role of lifestyle in the prevention and/or treatment of type 2 diabetes. The Award is given for trainee research (a graduate student, post-degree dietetic intern, or medical resident) investigating the role of lifestyle (diet and/or exercise) on the prevention or treatment of type 2 diabetes."
"The Christine Gagnon Memorial Travel Award is given for excellence in nutritional sciences research and reporting. Only full time graduate students specializing in some aspect of nutrition is eligible."
"Graduate students and other trainees submitted abstracts for consideration in the Nestlé Nutrition Graduate Student and Trainee Competition. This competition was part of the Canadian Nutrition Society/Société canadienne de nutrition (CNS/SCN) Annual Conference. Competitors eligible for consideration were graduate students, post-degree dietetic interns and medical residents. Eight students and trainees were selected, from the abstracts received, to participate in the Nestlé Nutrition Student and Trainee Oral Competition. Each of the eight students and trainees competed for one of three prizes, sponsored by Nestlé Nutrition."
