Movement and Posture Lab

Masters coursework positions are available for motivated individuals interesting in studying the control of human movement and balance in the Movement and Posture Lab (MPL).  The lab focuses on understanding how movement is organized & coordinated in terms of underlying sensory, cognitive, and motor processes.

The MPL lab is equipped with advanced motion capture, force plate, and EMG systems and features a large motion platform for perturbing balance in the study of postural reactions.   The MPL lab is part of the biomechanics & neurophysiology research group within the department of the Human Health and Nutritional Sciences at the University of Guelph, providing the opportunity for learning & collaboration among this dynamic research group.

The coursework program involves individualized courses centered on hands-on lab experience in current research equipment and techniques towards completion of a research project, typically completed in 3-4 semesters.

Applicants require an Honours BSc (4-yr or equivalent) in kinesiology, neuroscience, or related field to movement science with a minimum avg of 75% in the last two years of study.  Courses in motor control, biomechanics, systems neuroscience (e.g. sensory, cognitive), research design & statistics, and any research experience are all an asset.

Interested candidates should send their unofficial transcript and CV to:
