The PAL (Program for Active Living) volunteer will assist the full-time Kinesiologist/Exercise Therapist with individualized and group exercise programming for residents. Programming may include balance, strength, ROM, falls prevention, and specific post operative rehabilitation. There is an opportunity to assist with assessments, and gain experience with clinical documentation. They may also help with team member education/fitness classes, and have the opportunity to analyze falls which occur within the Home. There is an opportunity to work with the Physiotherapy team and Occupational Therapy, as well as learn more about mobility equipment. The student will need to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and have a police record check with vulnerable sector prior to starting.

YMCA-YWCA of Guelph Wellness Program [5]
Services provided: The YMCA-YWCA of Guelph Wellness Program assists in bridging the health care gap between hospital rehabilitations and available community resources. Our team has specialized training to work with individuals with chronic conditions such as Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, stroke or those with low mobility. Programs run year round, Monday and Friday from 11:00-12:00 and 1:30-2:30, and Wednesday from 1:15-2:15, excluding holidays.

Tasks: Volunteers are needed to assist wellness members in the completion of our NeuroFit and FitforFunction programs. Volunteers will have the opportunity to work directly with a clinical population after receiving proper training.
The NeuroFit Circuit and Fitness for Function and P.A.C.E. programs were developed to meet the need in the community for those with specific challenges related to an acute neurological event (stroke, spinal cord injury), a degenerative neurological condition (Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis) or those with impaired physical mobility. P.A.C.E. (Parkinson's Assisted Cycling Exercise) individuals need a welcoming and safe place that will encourage them in their journey to become more physically active in order to help manage their conditions.

Community Living Cambridge [11] - Sensory Regulation Program
The Sensory Regulation (SR) Program works with adults with Developmental Disabilities in conjunction with an occupational therapist and a specialist on SR. We are looking for Kinesiology, Occupational Therapy, and Psychology students willing to learn about our Brain Congruency Program and help us run it. We offer training and hands-on practice. We have been working and achieving amazing progress applying this technique with people within the Autism Spectrum, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and diverse behavioral challenges due to Dual Diagnosis.
