The University of Guelph invites applications for the position of Associate Vice-President (Physical Resources). Located in Guelph, Ontario, on the traditional territory of the Attawandaron people, the University is home to 30,000 undergraduate and graduate students spread across three campuses (Guelph, Ridgetown, and the University of Guelph-Humber). This is an exciting time for the University, and the Associate Vice-President (Physical Resources) will have opportunities to capitalize on the considerable momentum the University is enjoying. Reporting to the Vice-President (Finance, Administration and Risk) and working with all university and community stakeholders on campus development and facilities planning initiatives, the incumbent oversees 800 acres of core campus area, including 142 building and 6.8 million square feet of building area totalling $1.9 billion in capital assets. The incumbent will take a forward-thinking approach to managing the University’s land and buildings, capital planning and construction projects, deferred maintenance, preventative and corrective maintenance programs, custodial services, building systems and central utility plant operations, energy conservation, environmental protection, and sustainability initiatives.

The ideal candidate possesses a university degree in Engineering as well as a P.Eng designation, or the equivalent combination of education (e.g., architectural or business degree), designation, and experience. The successful candidate will have a track record of experience in a related senior management role; strong project management and problem-solving skills, and a demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities; excellent organizational, planning, interpersonal, negotiation and people management skills; a style of leadership that evinces respect, integrity, collaboration, and collegiality; strong financial acumen, and presentation skills; and, a track record of leading performance delivery teams who aspire to excellence and superior customer service.
