In this newly created and exciting role, the Executive Director, Budget and Financial Planning will have overall responsibility for the University’s central budget process.

Reporting to the Vice-President, Academic and Provost, the Executive Director will work closely with members of the executive team, deans, department heads, and budget and financial managers across the university to provide creative and strategic advice in support of the development of the university’s new budget model. Working in partnership with the AVP, Finance, the Executive Director will manage the transition of the University’s Budget Office to the Office of the Provost. A critical dotted line reporting relationship to the AVP, Finance will ensure that the important elements of financial reporting and budget control are maintained.

As the first incumbent for this role, you are a change agent who holds a CPA and has significant senior leadership experience in budgetary management, ideally within a complex public sector organization. You also have completed post-graduate studies in business or a related field. You are very comfortable with influencing others, working as a member of a team, and are focused on clear communication to multiple constituencies across the university to ensure the delivery of service excellence for the university’s budget and financial planning.
