Student Wellness Services comprises several departments working together to facilitate the development of student wellbeing, providing support to assist in the success in their academic careers. Reporting to the Manager of Wellness Education and Promotion, the incumbent will collaborate and work closely with the Wellness Education & Promotion Centre’s team and other on and off campus stakeholders to coordinate the development of training in the areas of mental well-being, and sexual violence education for first year students. These foundational, topic specific trainings will include a number of educational modalities designed for a diverse learner population.

The key objective of these training modules is to provide students with the tools and information necessary to build an individualized action plan that will support a successful transition to university life and beyond.  This strengths-based approach will assist in helping students to flourish on campus by helping to improve resiliency and help-seeking behaviors, including where, when and how to connect with diverse supports within the campus community.

The incumbent must have a finely tuned ability to utilize teaching tools that connect to a diverse post-secondary audience including how to effectively engage with vulnerable groups.  A thorough understanding of the student experience and the ability to teach, both on-line and in groups, the necessary tools for navigating the University environment is critical. 

Requirements of the position include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social science with a preference given to those who hold a Master’s degree in Public Health, Education or Social Work along with at least two (2) years of related experience.  A combination of related education and experience may be considered.
  • Proven ability assisting with the creation of innovative training for post-secondary student population
  • Proven ability to coordinate health and wellness projects in collaboration with multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to adopt different teaching and learning platforms for content delivery for post-secondary students
  • Experience advertising health and wellness programming to young adults
  • Ability to adopt different teaching and learning platforms for content delivery
  • Excellent time management, organization and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced team environment
