Under direct supervision, the Porter performs a combination of duties to help maintain the kitchen work area, equipment and utensils in a clean and orderly condition. Duties include: sweeping and mopping floors; washing walls; worktables, refrigerators, kitchen equipment, and cutting boards; removing and placing trash in designated containers; washing pots and pans by hand; washing dishes by hand or placing on conveyor to dishwashing machine; transferring supplies and equipment between storage and work areas; assisting in setting up in dining halls; refilling milk and soft drink dispensers; and performing other related duties as assigned.
Requirements of this position include: Some secondary school (secondary school graduation preferred) and related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience as kitchen helper, cleaning large kitchen is desirable. The job involves frequent heavy lifting and standing for prolonged periods of time. WHMIS training and a food handlers certificate preferred. Candidates must be willing to work a flexible shift schedule.
Regular annual schedule is September to April, with schedule subject to change based on operational requirements.
Start Rate $16.76 per hour
Job Rate $20.59 per hour
