Reporting to the University Registrar, the Student Centre Project Manager (SCPM) is responsible for the day-to-day management, planning and administration of the University of Guelph’s One-Stop initiative. The One-Stop Initiative will bring together front-line services in the Office of Registrarial Services to provide a single point of service for students on campus with a focus on self-service solutions.

The duties of the Project Manager will include: One-Shop project planning and management, opening of new service areas, assisting with human resources planning, facilities management, IT solutions, creating and proposing SOP’s, etc. The Project Manager will develop detailed project plans to track progress and ensure projects are completed on time, within scope and budget, and provide advice and recommendations to the University Registrar and senior management regarding the structure of the new setup and operations. The SCPM will establish and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders and vendors, as well as track and measure project performance.

The SCPM is a central role in the effective creation of the One-Stop and will need to liaise and coordinate with key stakeholders including students, staff, and faculty across the University.

Requirements of the job include:

  • Undergraduate degree and five (5) years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • In-depth understanding of university systems for purchasing/procurement, human resources and payroll, in a unionized environment;
  • Experience managing high profile, large-scale projects that involve a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and presentation skills;
  • Excellent judgement and ability to effectively assess and make sound decisions by utilizing quantitative and qualitative information;
  • Strong computer skills with extensive knowledge of spreadsheet, database and word processing applications;
  • Strong business management skills, including motivating, mentoring and coaching others.

This appointment is regularly performed on- campus but will be initially fulfilled remotely (off-campus) until the University resumes its regular operations.
