Forklift Operator Recertification

The half day theoretical course recertifies current operators on the safe use of forklift trucks.  Trained operators must recertify every 3 years. A practical skills assessment on a standard counterbalance lift truck (either internal combustion or battery operated) may follow or be conducted by the responsible supervisor at a later date.

Topics covered include:

  • Legal rights and responsibilities in forklift operation
  • Safety and health hazards
  • Review lift truck operating principles including pre-operation inspections, refueling, centre of gravity and load stability
  • Typical controls or solutions for common problems

Course includes: Participant reference manual

Cost: TBA according to cost of trainer

The University of Guelph does not offer a Forklift Certification for New Operators at this time, but refers those requiring new training to local professional trainers.
