Diversity Matters Census

Employment Equity is a program legislated by the Federal Government to remove barriers to employment for Aboriginal peoples, persons with disabilities, visible minorities (racialized people) and women.  The University of Guelph has always been committed to the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion and demonstrated this commitment when the first Employment Equity survey was implemented in 1990 for the purpose of developing an employment equity program.  This survey was repeated in 2000 and again in 2009 to ensure
accurate baseline and comparative data existed to measure our progress.

Since a full survey has not been done in five years, the Office of Diversity and Human Rights will be launching  a new “Diversity Matters Census” in the fall of 2014.  To make room for this new and exciting census, the University will be suspending the current employment equity survey effective immediately.  New employees are not required to complete the questionnaire until the new census is launched.

The new Diversity Matters Census survey will replace the employment equity questionnaire in its current form and will be launched during the week of October 22 to October 29, 2014.  This new questionnaire reflects the changing needs of our community by including sexual orientation in addition to the four marginalized groups.  Once the new census is launched, new employees will be asked to complete the questionnaire as part of their orientation to the University.

Please mark your calendars and stay tuned for more information!

Snow Removal Survey

The University's Physical Resources division endeavours to ensure safe and easy access to University facilities during winter. Every year Physical Resources deploys its staff to remove snow and clear doorways, pathways, steps, ramps and curb cuts so that all employees have access to University buildings. It is of vital importance that the needs of employees with disabilities are not overlooked.

If you are an employee with a mobility disability who can help us identify areas in the University that need attention in a timely way, please complete the Snow Removal Survey.
