Summary:

I completed my undergraduate degree in Environmental Studies, while also receiving a certificate in Geomatics: Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing at York University. During my undergrad, I worked in Dr. Gregory Thiemann’s polar bear science lab processing aerial images, this work led me to complete an honours thesis in the lab. The thesis evaluated the springtime habitat use by polar bears and ringed seals in the high Arctic. Currently, I’m working on my master’s thesis in Dr. John Fryxell’s lab. Here, I will amalgamate the terrestrial and aquatic biodiversity data gathered by the lab with the University of Guelph Watershed Group’s IMWEBs model. The overall goal is to find which land-use practices can be used to increase biodiversity on agricultural land with little consequence to the agriculture, creating a win-win for conservation and industry.
