Integrative Biology MSc student Kate Pare won the Genome Prize for Research Excellence at the Sixth International Barcode of Life Conference. Kate's presentation on "By-passing the taxonomic impediment in Neotropical Collembola to measure changes in diversity and phylogenetic structure" won her the $500 prize for student oral presentations at the meeting attended by more than 600 researchers from more than 50 nations. All conference abstracts were published earlier in the week in a special Open Access edition of the journal Genome (http://www.nrcresearchpress.com/toc/gen/58/5 [1]).
