Bigger Picture Series
Flagship speaker series offered during the fall and winter semester around a themem in entrepreneurship. Each event features either a panel of experts or one keynote presentation by an influential entrepreneur. These inspiring events are open to students, faculty, alumni and community members. Past speakers include, Ryan Smolkin of Smokes Pountinerie, Helmi Ansair of GROSCHE Intl.
Hub Startup Showcase
The Hub Startup Showcase is held to provide the Cohorts the opportunity to hone their skills learned within the program as well as the provide them with the opportunity to win 3 monetary awards. Cohorts will pitch their business in front of a judging panel who determine the overall winners for these awards. This session is open to anyone interested in attending at a nominal cost that all goes towards the “People’s Choice Award” recipient.
Improved Life Challenge
This is a full day immersive hackathon style event where interdisplinary student teams work with invited community and industry partners to tackle real world business challenges and come up with possible solutions. We end the day with each student group presenting their solutions in a pitch-style competition in an opportunity to win cash prizes. Business Challenges are submitted by community organizations and student groups are made up of all the disciplines and levels of study. This event runs once a year during the winter semester.
Lunch hour session open to any students or alumni who are interested in learning more about the Hub Incubator program run through the Wood Centre or other entrepreneurial focused topics. Each semester different themes are selected to talk about.
An opportunity to foster the spirit of entrepreneurship on campus by bringing likeminded individuals together to network, share ideas in an informal pitch competition all while sharing some light refreshments. This event is also an opportunity for our alumni to stay connected with the Wood Centre. These eveents run multiple times during the summer, fall and winter semesters and are open to students, faculty, alumni and community members.
A pop up "living room" that we bring around campus to foster conversations around how the Wood Centre can support your business ideas! Find the couch at various locatoins on campus throughout the year and make sure to stop by and say hello!
