Hosted by the College of Business and Economics at the University of Guelph and the Notre Dame Club of Toronto/Central Ontario, this event is open to the public and free of charge. Seating is limited.

How to Be a More Effective Leader by Mike Crant, PhD

Leadership is about getting things done through people. This lecture explores the question, “What makes a great leader and how can I become one?” The lecturer draws from vivid stories of the best practices of highly effective leaders in order to arrive at practical answers to this question. 

A member of the faculty since 1990, Mike Crant is the former chair of the Department of Management in the Mendoza College of Business. He studies proactive leadership and decision-making in business organizations. A winner of multiple teaching awards for both undergraduate and executive MBA. teaching, Crant has conducted executive development seminars for companies worldwide, including Bayer, Far Eastern Group, HSBC, Siemens, and Toro. Crant earned B.S.and MBA. degrees from the University of Florida and a Ph.D. in organizational behavior from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

The College of Business and Economics at U of G and the Mendoza College of Business at Notre Dame share a similar mission, advocating that business should be used as a tool for societal and environmental good.

Inspired by the late Father Hesburgh’s example of lifelong learning, the Hesburgh Lecture Series has brought University faculty to Notre Dame clubs and their local communities throughout North America since 1986.
