University of Guelph students attend the UN Global Compact Leaders Summit in NYC

After placing first in the global PRME-LEAD Challenge, a competition where students of PRME Champions schools submit short videos outlining how organizations can integrate sustainability within their operations, six Bachelor of Commerce students from the University of Guelph attended the 2016 UN Global Compact Leaders Summit in New York City from June 22 to 23. The BComm students attended various working group sessions and forums to learn how global business leaders have integrated sustainability within their specific organizations. They also played a valuable role at the Summit by representing the voice of post-secondary students and their views on sustainability within business. A large focus of the Summit examined how businesses can use the UN's Sustainable Development Goals as guiding principles for change.

The students attending the UN's Global Compact Leaders Summit are:

  • Daniel Brennan - Marketing Management
  • Kristina Kazemi - Marketing Management
  • Daniel Meharchand - Management, Economics, and Finance
  • Mathew Rogalo - Marketing Management
  • Priya Tanwar - Leadership and Organizational Management
  • Alex Wiedrick - Marketing Management

"This is a great opportunity for our students to get involved in such a high level event and to have an amazing and relevant experience," says PhD candidate Ruben Burga, instructor of the Corporate Social Responsibility class (MGMT*3020).
