Career Highlights

"I’m so fortunate to be with an organization that prioritizes career development and truly cares about its employees. I’ve certainly benefited from having tremendous leaders throughout my career, who have supported my aspirations and have always been willing to push me by providing stretch assignments and accountabilities. As I approach the 10-year mark at Manulife, I can genuinely say that I’m continuously engaged in my work and in the direction our company is headed - and I’ve certainly never been bored! The rotational element of our development program has provided me with the opportunity to branch out and learn about our various businesses across Canada from a variety of perspectives – be it pricing, product, accounting policy, strategy, expense management, or internal and external reporting.

Another aspect that I’ve really valued at Manulife is our commitment to our local communities – it’s been a highlight in my career so far. There are so many programs and employee resource groups within the organization that provide employees with the opportunity to give back to their communities and to drive change on really important social issues. Last, but certainly not least, having the opportunity to lead our CPA Development Program gives me the chance to stay connected with universities across the Country and to the leaders of tomorrow – something I’m truly passionate about!”

Memories of UofG / Lang

"I absolutely loved my time at UofG – the culture of the student body and the emphasis on practical and experiential learning was something I certainly benefited from. Probably the biggest highlight was a fourth-year project in which I was paired up with an agricultural business student and food science student. As a group, we were partnered with the Dairy Farmers of Ontario to help solve an industry problem. At the time, they needed to find alternative ways to make some of their products healthier – more specifically, chocolate milk and cheese. I learned so much during the project; building a product from scratch to help solve a real business problem and will always cherish the memories and friendships we built along the way.

I was also fortunate to have had the opportunity to lead our Accounting Association at UofG in my fourth year - really during the infancy of the accounting program. I believe in my graduating year, there were approximately 15 accounting students, so it’s been really exciting to see the program continue to grow into what it’s become today – I keep a close eye on all of the great things happening at Lang!"
