Professor David Prescott of the Department of Economics and Finance will be part of a panel discussion on the topic of “Recent Trends in Canadian Manufacturing”, hosted by Wayne R. Smith, Chief Statistician of Canada, Statistics Canada. The event is part of the programme “Talking Stats: A discussion series with StatCan.”

The presentation will explore the industrial structure of the Canadian manufacturing sector and its evolution in recent years. Key topics include trends in manufacturing sales, employment, profits, and input costs for manufacturing processes. The provincial distribution of manufacturing activities will also be discussed. In particular, the presentation will look at how key manufacturing industries have been faring since the recession.
