In addition to being an Economics professor at U of G, Ross McKitrick is also a musician and part of the band The Wild Oats. Their new release, The Dog-Eared Hymnal, was released last month and proceeds from sales will go towards clinical medical supplies in Tanzania through World Vision Canada. The Wild Oats will also be performing at a CD release concert on Saturday, December 7 at 7:30 p.m. at St David & St Patrick Church, 520 Speedvale Ave East (1 block east of Victoria) in Guelph. Ticket sales from this concert will support a literacy intervention program in the Brant Avenue school neighbourhood called "Running and Reading". This is a nation-wide program that combines athletic training with one-on-one reading instruction for kids in economically-challenged neighbourhoods. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door.
