The Lang School and U of G recognizes gender equity initiatives on campus and in the business community
Through $15,000 in awards and scholarships, the University of Guelph aims to support gender equity activities on campus and in the community. The awards are in support of the United Nation’s HeForShe [1]initiative for men and people of all genders to stand in solidarity with women to create a bold, visible and united force for gender equity.
Among the awards are three student-based scholarships and an award recognizing a local organization's gender equity initiatives.
The awards are funded by the Angel Gabriel Foundation and the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics.

Recognizing gender equity initiatives in the community
In association with the Guelph Chamber of Commerce [2], the HeForShe Impact Award recognizes gender equity initiatives of a local business. The award will put a spotlight on a local organization that is championing gender equity, resulting in positive change within their organization and community.
The recognized business or organization will have a $2,500 donation made in their name to the Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis [3] centre.

Supporting student-led initiatives
Available to undergraduate students at U of G, the HeForShe Ally Scholarship ($2,500) recognizes the achievements of an individual who is committed to advancing gender equity for all. The scholarship will be awarded to a student who has demonstrated a commitment to supporting gender equity and equality.
Now in its third year, the two HeForShe Resilience Scholarships ($5,000 each) are available to a female student in the Bachelor of Commerce program and the Bachelor of Engineering program at U of G. The scholarships aim to recognize the resilience and leadership of female U of G students.

All award winners will be recognized at the U of G’s HeForShe event on March 11, 2020.
HeForShe at U of G is an annual campus-wide event dedicated to the United Nations’ gender equity campaign. The event is a collaboration between the Lang School, the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences, and Gryphon Football. Each year, an inspiring female leader is invited to spend the day on campus to engage with students and to provide a public talk in celebration of U of G’s commitment to the UN’s global solidarity movement for gender equity.
This year’s keynote is U of G alumna Mary Deacon [8], Chair of the Bell Let’s Talk mental health initiative.
The United Nation’s HeForShe [1]movement is an invitation for men and people of all genders to stand in solidarity with women to create a bold, visible and united force for gender equality. Since HeForShe launched in September 2014, millions of men around the world, including Heads of State, CEOs, and global luminaries from all walks of life, have committed to gender equality.
