Lang business students started the year off strong with another successful performance at JDC Central (JDCC), the largest undergraduate business school competition in Central Canada.
Thirty-three of Lang’s top students competed in the competition, which brings over 600 student delegates together from Ontario, Quebec, and the Maritimes. This year’s event was held virtually and featured competitions for academic cases in 8 business disciplines, parliamentary-style debates, eSports tournaments, social competitions, and charity contributions.
JDCC Lang continued their success at the annual competition with 5 podium finishes:
- First place in the Charity Consulting Project
- Second place in International Business
- Second place in eSports (Rocket League Snow Day)
- Third place in Debate
- Third place in eSports (Rocket League 3v3)
Congratulations to all Lang students who competed and to Stephanie Sarellas who was nominated as the JDCC Lang MVP. Special thanks to this year’s co-captains Ayla Thomas and Amanda Sarellas for their efforts to face adversity and forge ahead to create an amazing opportunity for this year’s delegates.
Lang professor Dr. Kathleen Rodenburg was also awarded the Faculty Advisor of the Year award for her role in supporting JDCC Lang throughout the year to prepare for the competition.
“I am humbled by this year’s students, who have worked tirelessly each weekend by participating in virtual mock case competitions, debates, eSports and other social challenges to prepare for this year’s competition,” said Dr. Kathleen Rodenburg, Lang professor and JDCC Lang’s faculty advisor. “Despite the event being virtual and missing the excitement of gathering in person, our students were equally motivated to represent Lang, work hard, and demonstrate their skills in a new virtual environment.”
