The Qualitative Accounting Research Symposium (QARS) showcases a niche area of research in the accounting field. Qualitative accounting scholars comprise a dynamic and growing component of the scholarly community.

This symposium serves as a platform to unite the community, enable collaboration amongst its members, and add legitimacy to its research output.

6th Annual Qualitative Accounting Research Symposium

Thursday, November 25th and Friday, November 26th, 2021 at the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics, University of Guelph.

The Department of Management at the Lang School and the School of Administrative Studies at York University are proud to present this year's theme: Near and Far: Trends in Qualitative Accounting Research.

We are delighted to confirm that Yves Gendron will be the keynote speaker at this year’s event. In addition, we are excited to announce that the following panelists will join a discussion on the conference theme ‘Near and Far: Trends in Qualitative Accounting Research’: Yves Gendron, Sarah Lauwo, Elizabeth Ocampo Gomez and Helen Tregidga, moderated by Leonie Phillips.

Who should attend?

The Symposium welcomes academics, graduate students and practitioners at all levels of experience, who are interested in qualitative accounting research. We encourage the submission of full papers from all areas of accounting as well as interdisciplinary research.
