Topic: "A study of the management control framework of information technology projects"

Information technology (IT) projects are ubiquitous among most firms but yet the literature reports many instances of missed objectives, missed budgets and delayed schedules with these projects. Project managers have the responsibility to achieve expected performances with IT projects for the benefit of the firm. Within the framework of contingency theory, project managers are expected to use a variety of control systems to achieve optimum performance. I study the relationships among the uses of management control systems and their impact on project performance. Understanding the relationship between control systems and how they are effective with project performance will help practitioners improve the success rate of IT projects. Plan to contribute to the academic literature on contingency theory by applying a holistic model to the use of management control systems in projects and extend the literature that has focused on this holistic view of control systems from the firm level to the project level.
