(0:00 - 0:10) Hi I'm Ruben Burga and I received funding from the Lang experiential learning fund from for my CSR course. (0:11 - 0:16) Text on screen: When Covid-19 hit, Dr Ruben Burga utilized the funding to provide experiential learning in a virtual setting. (0:17 - 0:50) The key part of the course is that we talk about Corporate Social Responsibility as something that needs to be built into an organization, into how they derive their business, into how they run their businesses and part of their major activity the capstone project within the course was actually to be in touch with local community companies organization to have the students experience working and talking with these organizations to actually give these organizations a corporate social responsibility audit, evalutation and recommendations. (0:50 - 1:00) Now, once COVID-19 hit, that of course had to be curtailed. You could not do experiential learning outside of the classroom. (1:01 - 1:17) I went through and found a virtual simluation software that I was then able to apply for funding from the Lang experiential learning fund to be able to buy seats for all my students in a particular semester. (1:18 - 1:23) Text on screen: The funding allowed Dr. Burga's students to enhance their professional networking skills. (1:24 - 1:33) It gamifies all the aspects of how to interact with a client. Learning how to ask professional questions. (1:34 - 1:39) How to surface innovation. How to be curious about the client in a very respectful manner. (1:40 - 1:50) The feedback was amazing. Students really loved . The vast majority said it was a creative new way to learn new employability skills. (1:51 - 1:58) 60, 70 percent had positive comments as to how this upped the game in the learning process, (1:59 - 2:02) allowed them to develop some skills they didn't have before. (2:02 - 2:09) and understand how to actually do a process of inquiry, specifically appreciative inquiry (2:10 - 2:17) and essentially a soft way of introducing them in a low risk manner to a client. (2:18 - 2:23) without actually seeing a real client. The experiential learning fund is there for students to learn (2:24 - 2:31) so by all means, go through the list of funding, approved funding, what's been done in the past. (2:32 - 2:40) contact the open education people. Contact your colleagues and as soon as you hear of a new thing, jump on it (2:41 - 2:47) and then go through the rationale of why this is important for your learning outcomes in your course and then apply for the funding.
