Seven University of Guelph researchers [1]have received the 2023 U of G Research Excellence Awards. MCB's Dr. Geddes-McAlister was one of them!
These awards celebrate the research, training and knowledge mobilization achievements of recently tenured faculty members and help to raise their profile among external funding agencies. The $5,000 awards are sponsored by the Office of Research and the Office of the Provost.
Dr. Geddes-McAlister [2] uses mass spectrometry to study proteins involved in plant and human interactions with disease-causing pathogens. By understanding how microbes adapt and survive, she aims to provide fast and effective treatment for microbial infections, reduce the costs of treating them and prevent the spread of antibiotic resistance.
