Our Sympathies: Frank Hurnik
It is with sympathy that we share the passing of Prof. Frank Hurnik on June 10, 2018. Frank graduated with his PhD from the Department of Animal and Poultry Science (now the Department of Animal Biosciences) in 1971 and immediately joined the department as a faculty member. At the University, he started the first formal undergraduate degree course in farm animal welfare in North America in 1986, and was named a professor emeritus after his retirement in 1997.
Prof. Tina Widowski, director of the Campbell Centre for the Study of Animal Welfare, also wrote a piece entitled "Remembering Professor Frank Hurnik".
