Amar: The Bioproducts Discovery and  Development 
Centre is relatively new 
[Music fades out]
in the University of Guelph. 
It was started in 2008, October. So before I came from the United States
[University of Guelph logo and text fade out]
to this university the whole centre

Amar: was a parking lot and now the center we have about 10,000 square
feet of facilities. The focus of the center is to do bio-based materials as a possible 
substitute of petroleum-based products

Amar: and we try to take our resources from agricultural or biological sources, including
agricultural residues or byproducts to convert them into bioplastic,
bio-based composites and relatedbiomaterials for manufacturing applications. 
What I mean by manufacturing applications, it might work for consumer products which are more eco-friendly, sometimes compostable packaging products and automotive parts.

Amar: One of recent graduate students is now placed in Apple Inc. in California and
another graduate student is the director of a bioplastic industry
