It was started in 2008, October. So before I came from the United States [University of Guelph logo and text fade out] to this university the whole centre 0:20 - 0:32 [Screen changes to show video clips of outside of centre, researchers working in the facility] Amar: was a parking lot and now the center we have about 10,000 square feet of facilities. The focus of the center is to do bio-based materials as a possible substitute of petroleum-based products 0:33 - 1:03 [Screen changes to show video of Prof. Amar Mohanty speaking in the Bioproducts Discovery and Development Centre] Amar: and we try to take our resources from agricultural or biological sources, including agricultural residues or byproducts to convert them into bioplastic, bio-based composites and relatedbiomaterials for manufacturing applications. What I mean by manufacturing applications, it might work for consumer products which are more eco-friendly, sometimes compostable packaging products and automotive parts. 1:04 - 1:16 [Screen flashes to zoomed in video of Prof. Amar Mohanty speaking in the Bioproducts Discovery and Development Centre] Amar: One of recent graduate students is now placed in Apple Inc. in California and another graduate student is the director of a bioplastic industry [Music fades in] in the product development. 1:17 - 1:22 [Screen fades in to show OAC logo on a white background, red website link] Text: www.uoguelph.ca/oac [Screen fades to black]
