    About

Dr. Javed Sidiqi is a postdoctoral researcher whose work integrates plant breeding and environmental science to explore how to make crops and food systems more resilient to climate change.

Before arriving at U of G, Sidiqi helped direct a national wheat breeding program in Afghanistan where he trained fellow researchers and led a technical support team for wheat improvement. His current research focuses on wheat breeding and strengthening food systems to advance food security under changing environmental conditions.

Sidiqi has worked and studied in multiple countries including Afghanistan, Pakistan, the U.S. and Canada where he learned to bring adaptability, cross-cultural collaboration and resilience to complex research challenges. During his graduate studies at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, he was a Fulbright Scholar and member of the agronomy club.

Dr. Sidiqi has been named a member of the Royal Society of Canada's College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists.
