The Master of Science in Geography at the University of Guelph provides advanced research training in environmental geography, environmental geoscience, geomatics, and biophysical systems and processes. The program is designed for students who want to use scientific approaches to understand environmental change, natural systems and the relationships between people and the environment.
Students work alongside leading researchers on projects related to climate change, hydrology, geomorphology, ecosystem dynamics, conservation, land-use change, remote sensing and geographic information systems. With an emphasis on scientific inquiry, spatial analysis and environmental research methods, the MSc prepares students to investigate environmental questions across local, regional and global scales.

Program Format and Research Areas for Geography
The MSc in Geography is a research-intensive master’s program typically completed over five semesters of full-time study. Students may pursue either a thesis-based stream or a coursework-and-major-research-project stream, allowing them to tailor the program to their scientific interests, research goals and career objectives.
