Young Professionals On Board Opportunity

Young Professionals on Board is a initiative of the People and Information Network (PIN) program, (formerly the Volunteer Centre of Guelph/Wellington), whereby a member of the PSA will be trained in board governance and mentored by community leaders to sit on boards of local community organizations. This program is modelled on a program called Youth on Board that included such organizations as Family and Children’s Services, The Children’s Foundation, the Guelph Community Health Centre and Focus on Nature. This is an opportunity to join other young professionals in Guelph to build the leadership capacity of our community while gaining valuable skills and connections to add to your professional portfolio.

The PSA sees this as an opportunity for both personal and professional growth and as a way to develop leadership capacity both within the University community and the community at large.

“Contributing to the function and process of a well established board has been an invaluable learning experience for me as a young professional. The integration of young people into community boards is so important for increasing the diversity of boards and the YPOB program provides an excellent and supportive pathway for young people to step into leadership positions within their community.”  Lindsey Thomson, PSA sponsored YPOB Rep 2017
