Inquire For Education Research Support
Three faculty members from the College of Engineering & Physical Sciences have been accepted into Inquire Certificate Program. The 16-month program offered through Open Learning and Education Support, provides students, faculty, and staff with an opportunity to learn about the Scholarship of Teaching & Learning while developing and conducting a formal research project.
The 2018/2019 cohort will include Dr Michael Massa (Department of Physics), Dr Denis Nikitenko (School of Computer Science), and Dr Judi McCuaig (School of Computer Science).
To help support their research projects, the PSEER Steering Committee has agreed to cover the Inquire registration cost for each of the faculty members and to establish similar registration support for faculty who wish to participate in the program in the future. Dr Sara Fulmer, Educational Developer and Inquire Facilitator, had this to say:
PSEER’s support for faculty participation in the Inquire program sends a clear and important message that research on teaching is valued. PSEER is an excellent role model for SoTL support at the University of Guelph, and we encourage other disciplinary based education research groups to consider supporting their faculty through these programs as well.
We look forward to learning more about the research findings as the three complete the Inquire certification.
