General Program

Continuation of Study

Students are advised to consult the regulations for continuation of study within the program which are outlined in detail in Section VIII, Undergraduate Degree Regulations & Procedures.

Conditions for Graduation

In order to qualify for graduation from the general program the student shall have attained pass standing in at least 30 acceptable courses.

Recommended Schedule for Students in Biological Science Areas

*Semester 1

One biological science course from .17-115, 65-100, 92-102.

One mathematics course from 63-100, 63-108

19-104 General Chemistry I
76-107 Introductory Physics for the Life Sciences I

One Arts or Social Science elective.

Semester 2

One biological science course from 17-115, 65-100, 92-102.

One mathematical science course from 27-120, 63-101, 63-208.

One physics course from 76-108, 76-204.

19-105 General Chemistry II

One elective.

Semester 3

One biological science course from 17-115, 65-100, 92-102.

Three acceptable science courses.

One elective.

Semester 4 - 6

5 courses in each semester, including at least 3 acceptable science courses per semester. For details consult 'Total Course Requirements'.

One biological science course from 17-115, 65-100, 92-102.

One mathematics course from 63-100, 63-120.

19-104 General Chemistry I
76-100 An Introduction to Mechanics

One Arts or Social Science elective.

Semester 2

One biological science course from 17-115, 65-100, 92-102.

One mathematics course from 63-101, 63-121.

19-105 General Chemistry II
76-101 Fundamental Laws of Physics

One elective.

Semesters 3 - 6

5 courses in each semester including 3 acceptable science courses per semester. For details consult 'Total Course Requirements'.

Total Course Requirements for all General Science Students are as follows:

General Science core- 3 courses beyond the OAC level, in each of biological science, chemistry, mathematical science, physics (Refer to "Introductory Courses") - 12 courses

Additional acceptable science courses - selected from biological science, chemistry, computing and information science, mathematics, statistics, physics, geology, or other science courses - 8 courses

Arts and social science courses - 4 courses

Additional acceptable courses (these may include 1 of 15-102,19-106, 76-102), - 6 courses

Total: 30 courses

At least 4 of the Science courses must be 300 or 400 level.
