This is the second of a two-semester course providing an introduction to the physiological mechanisms used by vertebrates and invertebrates. The course will examine the underlying molecular and cellular events which mediate physiological processes and contribute to whole animal homeostasis. Particular emphasis will be placed on comparing the strategies and adaptations used by different animals and the influence of varying environmental conditions. The course will include an examination of digestive physiology, excretion, endocrinology and immunology. |
