Award Description

Gary Knechtel Memorial Scholarship

Established by the Toronto Section of the Canadian Institute of Food Science and Technology, with the assistance of the Ontario government's OSOTF program, in memory of Gary Knechtel (1943 - 1988) a revered and outstanding leader in the food industry and a long time member of the Canadian Institute of Food Science and Technology. Academic standing in high school OAC subjects and an interest in Food Science will be used to determine the recipient. Subsequent installments are dependent on continued demonstration of financial need and satisfactory progress in Food Science. Apply by letter with a completed Need Assessment Form to Student Financial Services by April 1. ACCESS AWARD

Qualifications: Students with demonstrated financial need entering the Food Science major in the B.Sc. program. Additionally, students must meet the government-mandated terms for receipt of an OSOTF Award.

Amount: One award of $10,000 paid in installments of $2,500 in semesters 1, 3, 5, and 7.
