Award Description

Kenneth O. Hammill - Blount Canada Scholarship

Established in honour of Kenneth Osborne Hammill, a long time friend of the University and retired plant manager of Blount Canada, with the assistance of the Ontario government's OSOTF program. Apply by letter to Student Financial Services with a completed Need Assessment Form by April 1. ACCESS AWARD

Qualifications: Students from the Province of Ontario, with demonstrated financial need, entering one of the following programs on an annual rotation: B.A. in 98/99, then B.A.Sc., B.Comm., B.Sc., B.Sc.(Agr.), B.Sc.(Eng.), B.Sc.(Env.). The winner is chosen from the list of alternates for the President's Scholarships. Recipients must maintain a B+ average or higher, continue to demonstrate financial need and be full-time students in order to qualify for subsequent instalments. During the summer after the 3rd year, the scholars will propose, to Student Financial Services, an enrichment experiential undertaking related to the student's field of study; the grant application should include a detailed budget. A grant of up to $1,200 is available to support the undertaking, subject to continuing financial need and approval of the proposal by Student Financial Services. Upon completion , the student will write a report of the experience to Student Financial Services. Additionally, students must meet the government-mandated terms for receipt of an OSOTF Award.
Amount: One award of $9,600 payable in 8 semester instalments of $1,200
