This award is normally made once every four years and may be held by the student throughout the DVM program providing both financial need continues and academic performance is maintained. The award is payable over 4 years to a student from the Ottawa-Carleton region entering semester 1 of the DVM program in 1994. Apply to the Dean's Office, OVC. |

Elaine Laurin Scholarships |
Mrs. Elaine Laurin, because of her compassion for animals, her long standing interest in veterinary medicine and her desire to help talented, but financially constrained, veterinary students, has generously established three continuing awards for students who have been admitted to the Pre-veterinary year and who continue through to completion of the four-year DVM program. The recipients chosen in 1995 will continue to receive the awards each year through to completion of the DVM program, provided they have achieved, on entry to DVM years 1, 2, 3 and 4 averages of at least 80% and demonstrate continued need of substantial financial assistance. James and Marjorie Pinkney Studentship Research Award |
This award was established by Dr. R. James Pinkney, a distinguished alumnus of OVC '37. Dr. Pinkney was a veterinary practitioner in Cooksville for over forty years and received numerous awards for sportsmanship in agricultural competition and leadership in agriculture. The award will enable an OVC undergraduate student in years 1, 2, or 3 to pursue, during the summer months, a research project related to the health and welfare of animals. Students taking part in the year 3 externship program may receive a portion of the award for the non-externship portion of the summer.
