Description

The Crohn’s and Colitis Canada Grants-in-Aid of Research program supports research on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). This research program helps advance prevention, treatments, health policy and, ultimately find cures. Grants support research projects with a defined objective, conducted by an investigator working alone or in collaboration with others.

 

Eligibility

Beginning with the 2021 Grants-in-Aid of Research competition, principal Investigators may not hold more than a cumulative total of $250,000 a year in extramural funding (includes foundation and industry support) unless they are in their final year of funding. Intramural funds are not counted towards this total. 

Investigators who hold an academic appointment at a Canadian University in a Faculty of Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Veterinary Medicine, or other Graduate Faculty are eligible to apply to Crohn’s and Colitis Canada as principal investigator for grant support of their research.

Principal Investigators must reside in Canada to apply for funding. 

Funding Availability

Crohn’s and Colitis Canada is committed to supporting early career researchers. As part of this commitment, 20%-30% of the GIA funds will be reserved for early career researchers beginning with the 2021 GIA competition.

If you need to meet a deadline set by the lead institution for this opportunity, please ensure that you provide the Office of Research with at least five days in advance of the lead institution’s deadline to review the application, or your proposed component of the project. Please be in touch with the Office of Research (contact information below) ahead of the deadline if it looks like it will be difficult for you to submit all the required documentation on time (i.e. budget, proposal, OR-5 Form).
