Description

The Réseau Québec maritime (RQM) and the Marine Environmental Observation, Prediction and Response Network (MEOPAR) are very proud to announce their first joint call for proposals!

Please see the attached file for further details.

One of the goals of this call for proposal is to promote collaborations between researchers from our two networks. The partnership between RQM and MEOPAR will support projects that promote the sustainable development and protection of the St. Lawrence system and improve the well-being of coastal communities. Through the highly collaborative projects funded, we aim to strengthen connections between researchers, partners, organizations and communities committed to reducing risks and increasing opportunities in the marine environment. For this purpose, four challenges have been identified as strategic priorities for this call, which need to be addressed in the submitted proposals (see table below for further details on the common research themes): 

  • Human coastal community health; 
  • Maritime risk and security; 
  • Sustainable maritime industry; 
  • Living resources, marine energies and ecosystem services

Eligibility

This program will support inter-provincial and intersectoral projects conducted by a minimum of three co-principal investigators (two from RQM and at least one from MEOPAR, out of Québec) on issues related to the St. Lawrence system, which includes the River, Estuary and Gulf.

Funding Availability

Total budget of $1.2 M over 2 years

Maximum Project Value

Maximum budget is $200,000 for one year projects and $400,000 for two year projects.

Partners cash or in-kind contributions must be at least 25% of RQM budget, and at least 25% of MEOPAR budget.

Ideally, budget should be balanced between Quebec (e.g., $100,000/year) and outside of Quebec (e.g. $100,000/year)

Indirect Costs

0% for MEOPAR

For Quebec’s budget (RQM), eligible expenses are in accordance with FRQ policy. Moreover, overheads will be calculated and given to the PI’s university along with the grant.

Project Duration

This program will support 1 and/or 2-year, inter-provincial and intersectoral projects

One to two years, to be implemented between April 2020 and March 2022.

Special Notes

If you are the Principal Investigator (PI) of your proposal, you can now create your profile and begin to fill out the different sections of the form.

Please note that only one investigator can be responsible for submitting the proposal, even if you have a counter-part who is named the «Principal Investigator » for the other network. Throughout this process, you will be invited to upload different attachments (budget, CV, academic signatures, letters of support) for the two groups of researchers (those in Quebec and those outside of Quebec).  In order for your co-applicants to access the submission (while in progress and once submitted), it is necessary to use the username and password associated with the account that has been created for the project.

Deadlines

If College-level review is required, your College will communicate its earlier internal deadlines.
