Join University of Guelph researchers on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 from 1:30 to 3 p.m. for a webinar on harvesting data at Ontario's agri-food research centres. The panel will focus on the new research station data access portal at the Elora Research Station and discuss how new data resources are being used to inform and advance dairy and beef research.

The panel will consist of the following U of G experts:

  • Host: Dr. Beverley Hale, associate vice-president research (agri-food partnership)
  • Dr. Christine Baes, Department of Animal Biosciences and Canada Research Chair in Livestock Genomics
  • Dr. Katie Wood, Department of Animal Biosciences
  • Dr. Rozita Dara, School of Computer Science

This event will interest Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) and University of Guelph staff, as well as sector partners interested in learning more about data advancements and next steps at the research stations. However, anyone interested in learning more about data at the Ontario agri-food research centres are welcome to attend.

Ontario Agri-Food Innovation Alliance Data Initiatives

The Ontario Agri-Food Innovation Alliance is committed to increasing access and sharing of data to facilitate new agri-food and rural research and data analytics to inform decision-making. Part of this commitment includes the development of the research station data access portal at the Ontario Dairy Research Centre, Ontario Beef Research Centre and the Precision Feed Facility. This data portal is the first step toward harvesting the data generated on “smart farms”.
