The Public Health Agency of Canada has announced an opening for a position on the Ministerial Advisory Committee on Human Pathogens and Toxins (AC-HPT). If you have expertise in the field of toxinology and are interested in assisting the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) in meeting its commitment to promote and protect to health of Canadians, you may wish to consider this opportunity.
The AC-HPT was established in 2015 to provide scientific advice and recommendations on amendments to Schedules 1-5 of the Human Pathogens and Toxins Act (HPTA). Since then, the Committee’s work has assisted in addressing domestic and international biosafety and biosecurity risks, as well as assist PHAC’s Centre for Biosecurity in delivering its mandate.
Candidate applications will be reviewed by the Centre for Biosecurity and nominees will be advised of the committee’s decision respecting their candidature. Those selected for further consideration will receive a package of documents to be completed prior to the next steps in the selection process.
Members are appointed for an initial term of between two and five years and serve on a volunteer basis. Members are reimbursed for expenses incurred during their work on the AC-HPT, such as travel and accommodation, according to the National Joint Council Travel Directive [1].
