Description
The CBC Short Story Prize involves submissions of original, unpublished fiction that is up to 2,500 words. The 2024 CBC Short Story Prize winner will receive $6,000 from the Canada Council for the Arts, have their work published on CBC Books and win a two-week writing residency at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity.
Eligibility
All Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada are eligible.
A team of readers from across Canada will read the entries and determine the longlist. The shortlist and winner will be decided by a jury comprised of three prominent Canadian writers.
Prize
The 2024 CBC Short Story Prize winner will receive $6,000 from the Canada Council for the Arts, have their work published on CBC Books and win a two-week writing residency at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity. Four finalists will each receive $1,000 from the Canada Council for the Arts and have their work published on CBC Books.

How to Apply
