Sponsor

The sponsor of the AARGA program is a partnership between the Alzheimer’s Association, Brain Canada Foundation and the Government of Canada through the Canada Brain Research Fund (CBRF).

Program

Alzheimer’s Association Research Grant For All (AARGA) Program [1]

Description

The AARGA program supports early-career investigators (within 7 years of their first Assistant Professor or equivalent appointment) conducting research in Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (AD/ADRD). The goal is to help researchers develop pilot data, test procedures, and build hypotheses that can lead to future funding.

Eligibility

  • Must be an early-career investigator:
    • Holding a full-time faculty position (e.g., Assistant Professor or equivalent).
    • Must have held this position for no more than 7 years at the time of application.
    • Exceptions may be granted for career interruptions (e.g., parental leave, medical leave).
  • Must be conducting research in Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias (AD/ADRD).
  • Applicants from underrepresented groups in biomedical research are strongly encouraged to apply.

Funding Availability

Funds are in USD. Each AARGA award is limited to a total of $200,000 (direct and indirect costs) for a duration of up to three years (Awards should be a minimum 2 years). For a two-year award, the total funding is limited to $140,000 (direct and indirect costs). Annual budget requests may not exceed $70,000 in any given year (direct and indirect costs). Indirect costs are capped at 10% of total direct costs and are inclusive of indirect costs for the implementing institution as well as to any subcontracts. Detailed guidelines on allowable and not allowable costs are included in the program guidelines.
