EthOS Form Update Coming on August 20, 2025
EthOS is the University of Guelph and University of Guelph-Humber system for the online submission, review and approval of Research Ethics Board (REB) applications when research involves human participants.
On August 20, 2025, a number of enhancements will be made available in EthOS to improve the applicant user experience.
There will be no service interruption or need to stay out of the system during the upgrade.
The enhancements include simplified form sharing, streamlined sections to accommodate modification and amendment cycles, more targeted content in the Annual Renewal and Study Closure subforms, improved guidance and dynamics throughout, and an embedded EthOS Suggestion form for U of G/U of GH researchers.

As with prior updates, completing the Form Update step is mandatory. This step does not impact your saved work.
- NEW: Any study team member with Edit access to the form can complete the update.
- If your form has a pending signature request, you will need to re-request the signature after updating (signed forms are not impacted).
Training materials on the EthOS Hub will be refreshed on August 20, 2025 at the same time as the Form Update.
This update aims to address priority concerns, but may not incorporate every suggestion we have received. Ongoing updates are planned to refine our forms and processes over time based on your feedback.
