The Diversity and Equity in Research Award recognizes outstanding individuals whose work advances equitable participation in health research and access to health care in Canada, improving the well-being of all Canadians, particularly those deserving equity.

Eligibility

This award recognizes outstanding individuals whose research advances diverse, equitable, inclusive and accessible representation in and access to health research and improves the health and well-being of all Canadians and particularly those deserving equity in Canada. Nominees must be Canadian residents whose work/research has been performed in Canada and has made a truly notable contribution to diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility in research in the health sciences, health policy and/or the improvement of therapeutics and healthcare.

Recipients of the HRF Diversity & Equity in Research Award will demonstrate:

• Research excellence in diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI)
• Equitable health research/breakthroughs with a significant impact on diverse equity deserving populations
• Outstanding research and efforts that promote improved access to healthcare and medicines and better outcomes by removing economic, social and other barriers
• Contributions to the creation of a more inclusive research community and society
• Research that promotes understanding and respect for diversity

Prize

The 2026 recipient will be honoured at the HRF Awards Reception on November 17 in Toronto.
