John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship 2027

John Simon Guggenheim Foundation
Description
The Guggenheim Fellowship offers support to exceptional individuals in pursuit of scholarship in any field of knowledge and creation in any art form, under the freest possible conditions. The Guggenheim Fellowship is not a lifetime achievement award. Rather, a Fellowship is awarded to individuals who have demonstrated exceptional ability in their chosen field and exhibit great promise for their future endeavors. The Guggenheim Fellowship is a mid-career award supporting the work of individuals who have made notable contributions to more than fifty fields across the arts, humanities, natural sciences, social sciences and interdisciplinary areas.
Fellowships are awarded through two annual competitions: one open to citizens and permanent residents of the United States and Canada and the other open to citizens and permanent residents of Latin America and the Caribbean. Candidates must apply to the Guggenheim Foundation in order to be considered in either of these competitions.
More information about the timeline of the competition can be found on the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation website.
Eligibility
Eligibility:
- All applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the U.S. or Canada at the time of application
- Guggenheim Fellowships are not open to students (undergraduate, graduate or postgraduate)
- Persons who have already received a Guggenheim Fellowship are not eligible to apply for another
- The awards are intended for individuals only; they are not available to organizations, institutions or groups
A list of all supported fields can be found on the Guggenheim Fellowship website. Please note: at time of application, applicants are required to choose the one field that best represents your proposed project.
Prize
The amounts of grants vary and the Foundation does not guarantee it will fully fund any project. Working with a fixed annual budget, the Foundation strives to allocate its funds as equitably as possible, taking into consideration the Fellows’ other resources and the purpose and scope of their plans.
