Description

The Kidney Foundation of Canada is pleased to partner with The Hyatt Family Foundation to support The Hyatt Family-Kidney Foundation Award for Kidney Health Innovation.

The Award for Kidney Health Innovation supports bold, high-impact research ideas focused on delaying or improving dialysis and enhancing transplantation for people living with kidney disease.

This grant is intended to support research that introduces cross-disciplinary concepts, novel hypotheses or unconventional strategies to advance late-stage kidney care.

This competition is ideal for researchers or research teams with:

  • Ambitious ideas that may not fit within conventional funding programs.
  • Projects that have the potential to stimulate further investment or act as a platform for future high‑impact scientific or clinical breakthroughs.
  • Interdisciplinary teams or ideas that cross disciplinary lines.
  • Innovations that could shift clinical practice or transform patient outcomes.
  • Projects that seek to develop or could lead to commercially viable or clinically relevant outputs like tools, tests, devices, mechanisms or care pathway innovations are encouraged.

Applications from all disciplines are welcome and interdisciplinary collaboration is encouraged. Both established investigators and early‑career innovators are eligible to apply.

Areas of innovation could include (but are not limited to):

  • Transplantation and Organ Availability
  • Dialysis and Treatment Alternatives
  • Diagnostic or Clinical Tools

Total award amount: $600,000
