NSERC Discovery Grants - COVID-19 extension with funds for 2021
Message from NSERC regarding COVID-19 extensions with funds:
To lessen the impact of COVID-19 and to support all researchers and highly qualified personnel, all grantees holding an active Discovery Grant (DG) and that are in their final funded year, can elect to receive a one-year extension with funds at their current funding level. This one year extension with funds is available for the following programs: Discovery Grants, Discovery Grants – Subatomic Physics (Individual, Project and Major Resources), Discovery Grants – Northern Research Supplements and Discovery Development Grants. Note: Eligible grantees can only receive this funded extension once.
If eligible, you will be sent a system-generated email from NSERC before the end of June prompting you to access a secure website where you can accept or decline the funded extension. The deadline to submit your response is September 15, 2021 at 8:00 p.m. ET. If you do not receive the system-generated email by July 1, 2020, first check your spam email folder and then contact NSERC at resgrant@nserc-crsng.gc.ca. Also, it is important to note that accepting this funded extension will automatically disqualify you from the 2022 Discovery Grants competition.
Note: For Northern Research Supplement (NRS) grantees, you will be sent two invitations. You must either accept or decline both the NRS and DG extensions.
Note: Grantees that are eligible to begin an Early Career Researcher (ECR) extension with funds in April 2022, have to accept that funded extension before becoming eligible for the Discovery Grants COVID-19 extension with funds. You will still be offered the COVID-19 extension with funds after your ECR extension with funds has begun.
