Description
The Ontario Agri-Food Innovation Alliance Tier 1 Research Program invites proposals that address Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Agribusiness (OMAFA) research priorities:

Eligibility
- University of Guelph faculty members may apply as Lead Applicant or Co-Applicant
- Adjunct faculty are eligible to apply if they can hold research funding at U of G and have no financial interest in collaborating organizations or co-funders
Applicants must use a @uoguelph.ca email and departmental affiliation for their Research Management System login credentials. See the Program Guide for complete eligibility details.
Lead Applicants and Co-Applicants must be fully compliant with existing Alliance requirements (e.g., reporting, financial obligations, Research Centre fee recovery) before proposal review. Applicants have 30 days after the submission deadline to address outstanding items, Proposals from applicants who remain non-compliant after this period will be withdrawn from review.
Funding Availability
- Duration: up to 36 months (3 years)
- Maximum funding request: up to $240,000
- Project start date: on or after May 1, 2027
Special Notes
Proposal Compliance Checks (optional)
The Office of Research Agri-Food Partnership team offers optional proposal compliance checks. This review does not assess overall quality or scientific merit but will review the proposal for issues that are not caught during the system validation checks in the RMS. To request a review email rescoord@uoguelph.ca [5] by September 8, 2026. Proposals should be at or near completion.
