Description

The Canadian Cancer Society’s Research Training Awards (RTA) program aims to support growth and innovation in the next generation of diverse cancer researchers across Canada. Recognizing that marginalized groups face structural and systemic barriers to inclusion and are underrepresented in the field of cancer research, CCS specifically invites Black and Indigenous Master’s trainees to submit applications for the 2025 training award competition in order to positively alter the research landscape. The program focuses on three main goals:

  • Building capacity
  • Funding a diverse group of trainees
  • Encouraging a comprehensive training experience

Eligibility

CCS welcomes Black and Indigenous students only to apply. Applicants must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or Indigenous and enrolled in or have applied to a graduate program officially starting (or ongoing) at the funding start date of September 1, 2025.

Funding Availability

$30,000 stipend per year for 2 years plus $2,500/yr training budget (Note: Students may also apply for an additional 1 year of stipend funding if continuing in a PhD program but that does not include the training budget).

Indirect Costs

0% per sponsor funding policy
